Ambassador Yusuf subsequently confirmed that the GOS will permit refueling of the plane after landing in Sudan and transferring detainees to Sudanese exclusive custody and control. He added that Sudan does not want to pick up its nationals in GTMO. He strongly agreed with the need not to discuss this matter publicly until at least after the transfer has taken place. ¶2. (C) Yusuf promised to identify a single point of contact to coordinate the transfer and who would sign for custody of these detainees. He has not done so yet but we will follow up. He asked about the possibility of "other detainee transfers" in early 2008 if this goes well, but CDA noted that we do not have additional information to share on this item at this time. FERNANDEZ
