1. (C/REL to Afghanistan) On May 27, deputy polmilcouns
provided reftel A notification to Mohammad Zia Salehi,
Situation Room Director, Office of the National Security
Council (ONSC). Deputy polmilcouns reiterated Administrative
Review Board (ARB) procedures, per reftel, and requested that
the GoA notify the relatives of the six individuals listed in
reftel A and provide any information that the relatives or
GoA might wish to share in written form to the Embassy within
30 days of this notification. Salehi acknowledged receipt
and undertook to provide a response.
2. (C/REL to Afghanistan) Deputy polmilcouns reminded Salehi
that the USG is still waiting for a GoA response to the last
ARB notification (refs B-C). Salehi said that information on
those individuals had been distributed to relevant GoA
officials in the detainees' home localities, but that the
ONSC was still awaiting feedback. He undertook to provide a
response to the Embassy as soon as that feedback is available.
