1. (C) Per reftel instructions, poloff on October 30
contacted Diego Alonso Garces of the Argentine Embassy in
Jakarta to discuss the request for INTERPOL approval of Red
Notices against Iranian officials charged in the AMIA bombing
of 1994. Garces confirmed that the Argentine Embassy had
raised this matter with the Indonesian government and would
appreciate Mission support with the GOI.
2. (C) Poloff met Alfiano Tamala, Directorate of North and
Central American Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs
(DEPLU),on October 30 to convey reftel message. Poloff
underscored that it was important that the GOI support and
reaffirm the INTERPOL Executive Committee's unanimous
decision at the upcoming INTERPOL General Assembly meeting in
Marrakech, November 5-8. (Note: Indonesian National Police
officials will represent the GOI at the Marrakech meeting.)
Tamala said DEPLU and other Indonesian government agencies
would carefully review the request.
