1. (C) Visiting ISN PDAS Patricia McNerney passed reftel
nonpaper on the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) to
Desra Percaya, Director for International Security and
Disarmament Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs
(DEPLU),on August 14. Percaya remarked that DEPLU's
thinking on PSI had evolved from the time when as DEPLU
spokesman he had publicly criticized the initiative. The GOI
was now ready for informal dialogue on PSI with the United
States, Australia and other interested countries.
2. (C) Percaya also reported that Indonesia would participate
in the Australian-led informal working group on PSI to be
held in Jakarta in September (ref B).
3. (SBU) We will report PDAS McNerney's discussions on Iran
septel.
4. (SBU) PDAS McNerney approved this message.
