1. We conveyed USG position reftel to Ms. Rosmalawati Chalid,
Deputy Director of the Directorate for Economic and
Environmental Development at the Department of Foreign
Affairs on April 24. Chalid said as far as she was aware
Indonesia had not yet taken a position on the question of
Samoa, but she would discuss this in the next several days
with the Directorate's director, who currently was in Bonn.
We asked that she share any further developments with us.
