(SBU) On July 25, Poloff met with MFA International Organizations
Department Expert Dang Quoc Hung to deliver reftel points on
implementation of UNSC-imposed sanctions on Iran. Hung took note of
the U.S. position on the need for robust implementation of sanctions
and said he would report this information to MFA leadership. He
mentioned that the GVN made timely submissions of its UNSCR 1737 and
1747 reports, and asked if there will be additional sanctions on
Iran. Hung referred to reports of recent cooperation by Iran with
the IAEA, saying that this was a positive development. Finally he
stated that Vietnam has fully complied with the UNSC sanctions on
Iran and will continue to do so in the future. Post will continue
to press the importance of robust implementation of the UNSCRs with
GVN officials.
