(S) Guatemala's INTERPOL representative, Benigno Barraja,
informed Embassy NAS Officer that Guatemala would join a
Central American consensus position in support of Argentina's
request for approval of six red notices at the Interpol
General Assembly meeting in November. Argentine DCM Enrique
Vaca welcomed the USG's assistance, and told Pol/Econ Couns
that the Guatemalan Foreign Ministry and Ministry of
Government, in addition to Barraja, had committed to
supporting Argentina at the Interpol General Assembly. Vaca
said he also understood that there is Central American
consensus in support of the Argentine position.
