SUBJECT: USG-FUNDED LABOR PROJECT DONATES VEHICLES TO
IMPROVE LABOR INSPECTIONS
1. USDOL-funded Proyecto Cumple y Gana donated three new
vehicles to the Ministry of Labor (MOL) to support and
strengthen labor inspections by the MOL's regional offices in
Quetzaltenango, Escuintla, and Chimaltenango.
2. Embassy participated in the September 11 donation
ceremony, presenting the keys to Vice Minister of Labor Jorge
Nichols. Representatives from the three regional labor
inspectorates, the country coordinator for the Cumple y Gana
Project, and MOL officials also participated.
3. The USG-funded donation was part of Cumple y Gana's
program activities to help strengthen labor rights in
Guatemala. An agreement signed by the Minister of Labor
ensures the maintenance and proper use of the vehicles in
conducting labor inspections.
