¶1. POLOFF hand-delivered a copy of the 2007 Guatemala Report
on International Religious Freedom (IRF) to Ambassador Julio
Martini, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
per reftel. Amb. Martini expressed his appreciation and
announced that it was "good news" that there were no reports
in Guatemala of societal abuses or discrimination based on
religious belief or practice.
¶2. There was no local media or public reaction to the
report. Embassy has translated and posted on its website the
translated Spanish text of the Guatemala IRF report and a
link to the English text per reftel.
