UNCLAS DUBLIN 000869 SIPDIS SIPDIS E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PHUM PREL PGOV EI SUBJECT: IRELAND WATCHING VENEZUELAN SITUATION CLOSELY REF: A. STATE 157219 ¶B. STATE 154674 ¶1. (U) Poloff delivered points contained in reftel demarches on November 27 to Karen Miller in the Americas Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs. Miller welcomed the information and told poloff that Ireland was concerned about the recent developments in Venezuela and was monitoring the situation closely through the EU. She added that while she was not aware of any upcoming discussions on the issue at the EU, the agenda could well change. ¶2. (U) Miller noted that it is often difficult to obtain up-to-date information on the situation directly, as Ireland does not have a diplomatic presence in Venezuela, and therefore she appreciated the new facts provided in the demarche. (Note: Ireland's diplomatic representation in Venezuela is handled by their Embassy in Mexico City.) FOLEY
