Pierce for reasons 1.4 (b) and (d) (C) Ireland supports the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, but making a financial contribution to it may be difficult, according to Deputy Director Stephen Dawson, Middle East and North Arica Section, Department of Foreign Affairs, to whm POLOFF delivered reftel demarche on September 0. Most of Ireland's aid is funneled through IrihAid, Dawson explained, and very little funding is earmarked for solely political purposes. Ireland is inclined to contribute to the trust fund, he continued, but the amount available may be small. In anticipation of the UN letter inviting Member States to make contributions to the trust fund, Dawson concluded, he will begin making inquires into what funding, if any, may be available for contribution.
