(C) Early January 16, citing time constraints and the imminent naming of an adviser with responsibility for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chief Advisor Fakhruddin Ahmed postponed his meeting with the Ambassador scheduled for later the same day. As an interim measure, mission sent a letter based on Ref A from Ambassador to Ahmed alerting him to USG concerns. ¶2. (C) Ambassador has separately conveyed Ref A points to Director General of Forces Intelligence Brigadier General Amin (Ref B). ¶3. (C) We expect a meeting soon with both Chief Adviser Ahmed and the adviser charged with MFA (assuming it is a different person),where Ref A points will be reiterated. BUTENIS
