1. (C) As instructed reftel B, post immediately reached out
to the interim Chief Advisor, Fazlul Haque. In the interim,
the President named Fakhruddin Ahmed as the next Chief
Advisor. Fakhruddin Ahmed will be sworn in on January 12 at
1900 local. Ambassador and other Chief of Missions will
attend. The Ambassador will deliver ref B demarch to
Fakhruddin Ahmed at the earliest opportunity.
2. (C) In a meeting today with Counterterrorism Chief of
Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) Brigadier
General Amin (septel),the Ambassador emphasized the U.S.
position (ref B). We anticipate he will ensure the points are
delivered.
