(C) Bassam Sabbagh, the office director for Syrian FM Walid
Mu'allim, called the Charge over the weekend to say that the
SARG welcomes the visit of PRM A/S Ellen Sauerbrey. We have
not yet received any official indicator as to the level of
the SARG official who will meet with her. A well-informed
businessman in regular contact with senior-level SARG
officials told us he had heard that DFM Faisal Mikdad had
been designated as the official to receive A/S Sauerbrey. We
will confirm that information as soon as possible.
