by the United States for consideration at the Convention on
International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora
(CITES) in The Hague from June 3 through 15, 2007 and summarized

2. EconFSN spoke with Mr. S.R. Dissanayake, Deputy Director,
Department of Wildlife Conservation to solicit responses to the
proposals summarized reftel. (Note: Dissayanake spoke in place of
the standard Point of Contact for CITES, the Director of the
Department of Wildlife Conservation, since no director is currently
appointed. End Note.)
3. Dissayanake said that Sri Lanka has no comments on the proposals
submitted by the United States. He explained that his department
has no scientific information regarding the species listed in these
proposals to offer meaningful comments. He added, "The normal
position of Sri Lanka is to be guided by the conservation status of
the country under consideration."
