CONDEMNING USE OF RAPE

(SBU) PolOff delivered reftel demarche to Ministry of Foreign
Affairs Assistant Director for UN Affairs Ahmed Shiaan on
October 3. Shiaan undertook to review the text closely and
provide Poloff with any comments. He noted that the
Maldivian mission in New York would also review the draft and
would provide comments directly to the U.S. delegation at
UNGA. He asked that Poloff inform him if any countries sign
on to co-sponsor the resolution.
