1. After a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck the west coast of
Indonesia and the Government of Sri Lanka (GSL) issued a
tsunami warning, Embassy convened the Emergency Action

Committee at 7:00 p.m. local time to discuss contingencies
and preparedness measures in the event of an tsunami.
2. At 8:29 p.m. the GSL issued a retraction of its tsunami
warning, and Embassy subsequently issued a warden message at
8:34 p.m. stating: "The Sri Lanka Meteorological Department
has officially lifted the tsunami warning for Sri Lanka."
