(SBU) POLOFF delivered reftel background/nonpaper April 4 to
Minister Carlos Hernandez of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
(MFA) Directorate of International Security and Nuclear and
Space Issues (DIGAN). Hernandez stated that the GOA would
include Iran's Defense Industries Organization in the list
for the GOA Commission for Export Controls. In addition,
DIGAN would circulate the information in the
background/nonpaper to the Secretary of Finance and the legal
section of the MFA to determine who else would need to take
action. Finally, the GOA would review the register to check
for transactions with Iran's Defense Industries Organization
and contact the Embassy in the event of further developments.
