ETHIOPIA-ERITREA CONFLICT DURING UPCOMING VISIT TO REGION

(SBU) Polcouns delivered reftel demarche to MFA East Africa
Director Weyens. Weyens said the demarche was timely since
Belgium now chaired the UNSC Committee on the
Ethiopia-Eritrea border dispute. To get a better
understanding of the issue, Weyens said Senator Pierre
Chevalier, the Foreign Minister's Special Envoy for UN
Security Council affairs, would lead a small delegation to
Addis Ababa and Asmara February 18-24. Embassy will review
