(C) On August 31, Poloff delivered demarche to Valer Franko,
MFA Deputy Director of the Department of Disarmament, OSCE,
and Counter-Terrorism, responsible for terrorist finance
issues. Franko had no immediate response but said he would
discuss the possibility of co-sponsoring the designation with
the Director of the MFA United Nations Agencies Department
and would get back to Poloff with an answer by September 4.
Note: The new Director of the UN Agencies Department,
Ambassador Jan Varso, assumed his current position two weeks
ago after serving as Slovakia's Ambassador to Cyprus. End
