1. (SBU) Poloff delivered diplomatic note, points and C.V. of
Ms. Felice Gaer as per reftel to Zuzana Topoleska, Director
of the Human Rights Department at MFA, on August 7. Topoleska
said that Slovakia has no problem with Ms. Gaer and her
candidacy will be given full consideration.
2. (C) Topoleska unofficially pledged Slovakia will vote for
Ms. Gaer, particularly since there appear to be only four
candidates for five positions. Even if additional candidates
should announce themselves, however, Topoleska said she could
not imagine a scenario in which the MFA would decide not to
support Ms. Gaer. Topoleska added that Slovakia is planning
to nominate a candidate for the UN Committee Against Torture
in 2011.
