(SBU/N) Colombian nationals listed below applied for a nonimmigrant visa at Embassy Bogota on 18 SEP 2007. However, on the family's last trip to the United States, they all stayed for over a year and a half even though they were authorized to stay for six months. During the period this family was in the United States, they applied for and were denied asylum. ¶2. (SBU/N) Post requests that DHS Headquarters Office of Asylum determine the bona fides of the Medina family's asylum application for purposes of the bona fide asylum claim exception to inadmissibility under INA 212(a)(9)(B). ¶3. (SBU/N) A summary of the Medina family's case follows: The alien's complete name, date of birth, and "A" number: Ana Maria Media Tobar, 24 FEB 1969, A78354300 Mauricio Coral Durango, 23 SEP 1934, A78354301 Oscar Mauricio Coral Medina, 2 JUN 1989, A78354328 Paola Andrea Coral Medina, 3 SEP 1987, A78354327 When and where the aliens lived in the United States: 645 Salam Church, Maiden, North Carolina 28650 - January 2000 to May 2000 1919 Beniba Rd, Apt 1405, Sarasota, Florida 34232 - May 2000 to November 2000 4627 Classic Drive, Sarasota, Florida 34243 - November 2000 to departure When and where the aliens filed the asylum application: The family claims they filed an asylum application in Sarasota, Florida (Beniba Road - see above address). The family states that they filed the application sometime around June, 2000. Whether the aliens worked in the United States, and whether INS had authorized such employment, and if so, what type of authorization documents the alien had been given: Both parents, Mauricio Coral Durango and Ana Maria Medina Tobar claim they worked in the United States after they received their work permits, around 27 DEC 2000.
