1. Kyrgyz Minister of Transport and Communications
Sulaimanov, Kyrgyz Telecom President Mambetaliev and
"Government Communications" State Company Director
Beyshekenov all expressed interest in reftel's proposed fiber
optics conference. We have also received positive feedback
from the Communications Regulatory Agency.
2. With respect to the late summer timeframe for the
proposed conference, Embassy notes that Bishkek is scheduled
to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in
mid-August. It is likely that senior level officials will
not/not be available for travel outside of Kyrgyzstan for the
first half of August.
