1. (S) Global Affairs officer delivered ref demarche to
German MFA Export Control Division Deputy Chief Markus
Klinger May 9. Klinger said the U.S. approach to the Small
Group before presenting the proposals to all MTCR Partners is
a good practice. He said he will discuss the proposals with
his division chief, Goetz Lingenthal, who will head the
German delegation to the MTCR Plenary later this year. In
addition, Klinger said he will also share the proposals with
other appropriate branches of the German Government.
Concerning the revised proposal on Iranian front companies,
Klinger said the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND)
will study it and will contribute to the German Government
response.
