MFA Export Control Division Desk Officer Andreas Kauke
February 21. Kauke thanked us for the information concerning
efforts by Iran's SAIPA to acquire machine tool control
equipment from Germany's Heidenhain Corporation via a Taiwan
company. Kauke said Heidenhain is a large, well-known
company and has cooperated with the German Federal Economic
and Export Control Agency (BAFA) before on sensitive
licensing cases. Kauke will pass the information to the
German federal inter-agency export control group for
investigation. Post will report substantive German response
septel.
