(S) MFA Export Control Division Desk Officer Volker Herzog
briefed Global Affairs Officer December 18 on the German
Government's investigation of ref B information, which
reported that a German firm - Zirbus Technology - had
expressed interest in selling a freeze dryer to the Iranian
firm Cinnagen. Herzog said German export control authorities
had contacted Zirbus representatives to sensitize them to the
matter. According to Herzog, Zirbus officials claimed they
had not been in touch with Cinnagen.
