1. (S) Global Affairs officer passed ref demarche to German
MFA Export Control Division Desk Officer Volker Herzog June
4. Herzog said he will pass the information to the German
federal inter-agency export group about efforts by Iran's
Shahid Hemmat Industrial Group (SHIG) to procure dual-use
equipment manufactured by Germany's Rohde & Schwarz. The
demarche's provision of names of known front companies for
SHIG will assist the German export control authorities'
investigation into this case, according to Herzog. He said
he will convey the results of the investigation to us.
2. (U) Post will report any subsequent German response septel.
