Shemanski, for reason s 1.4 (b) and (d). ¶1. (S) Global Affairs officer delivered ref demarche to German MFA Export Control Division Desk Officer Ina Schuett May 23. Schuett said she will pass the information concerning the German firm Zirbus Technology's interest in selling a freeze dryer to the Iranian firm Cinnagen to the German federal inter-agency export control group. She noted that federal authorities will have to investigate this information to determine whether the freeze dryer in question is subject to export controls. The German Government scrutinizes license applications to export any dual-use technology to Iran very carefully, Schuett added, and denies them if the technology could in any way be used in a WMD or military program.
