1. (U) On May 07, 2007, poloff passed ref demarche to the Serbian
MFA to request Serbia's support for the USG in opposition to the
African Group nomination of Zimbabwe as chair of the CSD. Serbia is
unable to give an answer at this time. They generally support the
EU consensus position on these issues. However, as Serbia is
currently lobbying African countries for support on Kosovo in the
UNSC, our contact said Serbia is unwilling at this point to do
anything that might upset potential UNSC allies from Africa. Once a
decision is made, MFA has assured us they will contact us.
