¶1. (C) No one from the Lebanese Government will attend the
upcoming meeting of the Arab League boycott in Damascus,
Minister of Economy and Trade Sami Haddad told Ambassador and
Econoff on November 1, 2007. During the meeting, he called
the GOL's Israeli Boycott Office in his Ministry to verify
this. Haddad volunteered that during the past six or seven
months he has been working quietly to remove the names of
ships that have been routinely added to the Lebanese list for
violating the boycott in the past. He has also prevented the
addition of any new ships to the list.
