(C) Poloff contacted the Argentine Embassy in Beijing regarding Argentina's effort to have INTERPOL issue six Red Notices for five current and former Iranian officials and one Lebanese national indicted by Argentine courts for their alleged roles in the 1994 bombing of the Argentine-Jewish Mutual Association (AMIA) in Buenos Aires. Argentine Charge Maria Rendon told Poloff on November 1 that Argentina invited China to attend the INTERPOL General Assembly and that the Chinese said they will send a delegation to Morocco. The Charge added that the Embassy does not see any need to request U.S. assistance in this matter and is not asking for it. ¶2. (C) Embassy's LEGATT office also confirmed directly with the Ministry of Public Security that China is planning to send an INTERPOL team to the General Assembly meeting in Morocco. Randt
