SUBJECT: THE GAMBIA: DEMARCHE ON ADOPTION OF UNSCR 1747 AND
IMPOSITION OF SANCTIONS ON IRAN

(SBU) Ambassador made reftel demarche to Foreign Affairs
Permanent Secretary Bai Ousman Seka, providing non-paper and
text of UNSCR 1747 and annexes. Ambassador reviewed the
additional Chapter VII sanctions imposed on Iran under UNSCR
1747 and noted the obligation of all UN member states to
ensure its full and effective implementation. Seka expressed
thanks for the presentation, but otherwise made no comment.
We will report any substantive reaction by the GOTG.
