(SBU) In meeting with Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy, Ambassador briefed on the President's new Iraq strategy and provided text of his remarks. The Ambassador urged the GOTG to consider expressing publicly its support for the President's strategy and for the Iraqi government's efforts on behalf of national stability, economic development, and national reconciliation. ¶2. (SBU) Vice President Njie Saidy took the Ambassador's presentation on board and indicated that the GOTG would carefully review the President's statement and consider our request. She remarked, "it is essential to resolve the Iraqi situation," but otherwise made no substantive comment. STAFFORD
