(SBU) Ambassador made reftel demarche February 26 to Foreign Affairs Secretary of State (Foreign Minister) Bala Garba Jahumpa, briefing on the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism and providing a copy of the Global Initiative Statement of Principles. Ambassador urged the GOTG to endorse the Statement of Principles and participate in Initiative activities, noting the meeting that the Government of Kazakhstan is scheduled to host this summer. ¶2. (SBU) Jahumpa expressed thanks for the briefing and said he would consult with President Jammeh regarding the GOTG's possible participation in Initiative activities and advise us accordingly. STAFFORD
