1. (U) We called on Counselor of the Peace, Security, and
Disarmament Division of the Department of International
Organizations, Pattarat Hongtong, on November 26 and made the
points outlined in reftel.
2. (C) Pattarat advised that Thailand planned to wait until
it had a chance to hear all of the arguments at the UN
General Assembly before making any final decisions, but
agreed to take the U.S. position into consideration.
Pattarat expressed Thailand's hope for peace between the two
nations and noted that Thailand maintained good relations
with both Israel and the Arab States. Pattarat commented
that Thailand had to carefully consider the details of each
resolution and the potential impact of the resolutions on the
balance of relations between Thailand and the respective
countries citing unspecified equities involved.
