1. (C) Ambassador continues to raise our concerns with the
Government of Azerbaijan (GOAJ) about Iran's failure to
comply with UN Security Council resolutions (UNSCRs).
Ambassador delivered reftel talking points to Azerbaijani
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on July 24, reaffirming
with Mammadyarov the importance of universal and robust
implementation of UNSCRs 1737 and 1747. Mammadyarov made no
substantive response to the points, but said that Iranian
President Ahmadinejad's visit was still "postponed," with no
dates set (ref b) (Note: Presidential Apparat's Protocol
Chief also reportedly told the Israeli Ambassador that no
dates have been set for Ahmadinejad visit. End Note.)
2. (C) Embassy will continue to raise our concerns about
Iran's failure to comply with its international obligations
with the GOAJ and will report on any new developments.
