FOR THE ELIMINATION OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION

(SBU) Pol/Econ officer delivered reftel demarche to MFA UN
desk officer Jalla Ibrahimova. Ibrahimova said she has
written a draft letter from the MFA to the US Embassy
proposing mutual U.S.-Azeraijani support for each state's
candidate to the UN Committee. Ibrahimov said Deputy Foreign
Minister Araz Azimov still needs to approve this memo, but
she hopes the MFA will convey to Post in the coming days.
Post will report septel any coorespondance received from the
MFA.
