On Sept. 7, CDA raised ref A points on getting the NAC to
Georgia with MFA Secretary General (and acting FM - ref C)
Agathokles. CDA noted that the Greek representative at NATO
had discouraged a NAC trip to Georgia because of likely
negative reaction from Russia. Agathokles noted that Greece
faces "constant pressure" from Russia, "especially on
Georgia." Agathokles said that Greece "wants to support
Georgia," but "needs to maintain a balance between the
Russian Federation and Georgia." Agathokles noted that
Georgian President Saakashvili will visit Greece Oct. 1 - 2.
In that context, he mused that "it may not be possible to say
no to a NAC visit."
