1. The following is an addition to the TIP Interim Assessment Report
(reftel B). The information was received from the GOK after the
submission of retel B and is in response to reftel A.
2. Victims of trafficking are protected under a GOK law on the
protection of participants of the criminal process. In 2007, the
GOK spent a total of $5,393 under this law to assist 31 victims of
trafficking. These funds provided protection, housing, meals, and
clothing. Outside of Kazakhstan, victim assistance is provided by
diplomatic and consular offices under a GOK law which provides
financial assistance to citizens of Kazakhstan trafficked to foreign
countries for exploitation and victims of disasters and criminal
acts. In 2007, a total of 28 citizens of Kazakhstan received
financial assistance in the amount of $29,362.
