(U) Poloff contacted Erlik Ali, head of the international organizations section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, concerning reftel. Ali reported that the Government of Kazakhstan has not finalized its delegation to UNGA, and would not do so until mid-August at the earliest. ¶2. (SBU) Several government sources, including Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Kazykhanov, have informally indicated over the past month that President Nursultan Nazarbayev plans to attend UNGA, and will request a pull-aside with President Bush while in New York.
