HIGH-LEVEL ATTENDANCE

On July 24, Embassy passed the MFA reftel request for the names of
any high-level officials of the Government of Turkmenistan planning
to attend the 62nd UN General Assembly. The Charge d'Affaires,
Ambassador Hoagland orally raised the same request with Deputy
Chairman of the Council of Ministers/Foreign Minister Rashit Meredov
on July 27. Meredov replied Turkmenistan will not decide on its
delegation until mid-August, at the earliest. We will report
further information as it becomes known.
