(C) Charge raised reftel request for Turkey to consider the
transfer and resettlement of select Guantanamo detainees with
Deputy FM Apakan and Deputy Undersecretary for Bilateral
Affairs Haydar Berk on March 26. We followed up with Deputy
Director General for Security Affairs Sakir Torunlar on March
¶27. MFA officials welcomed US action to further the process
towards closure of the Guantanamo facility and took the
request under advisement.
