1. (C) Per ref's A and B, Ambassador and other senior
embassy officers have engaged the director of the Office of
King Abdullah, the director of Jordan's General Intelligence
Directorate, the Foreign Minister, and the director of the
private office of the Foreign Minister on ensuring effective
implementation of UNSCR 1737 (ref C) and focusing this
message on Russia during the recent visit to the region of
President Putin (ref D). All GoJ parties engaged pledged
vigorous cooperation.
2. (C) Post has since verified that none of the Iranian
entities cited in Ref C are currently licensed to operate in
Jordan, and there are no indications of any activities by
them in Jordan. Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of
Jordan Faris Sharaf assured ECOUNS that he would also
cooperate fully in pursuing this issue. He added that Bank
Sepah does not operate in Jordan, and he will alert banks not
to have any banking relationships with it.
