Al-Adwan, Director of Foreign Minister Khatib's private
office. Adwan was familiar with the issues, stressed
Jordanian support for Palestinian PM Fayyad and
Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts, and confirmed that Khatib
would attend the September 24 AHLC. He pointed out that the
Palestinians need to revive their economy, not just pay
salaries. Polcouns noted that a positive AHLC would both
support Fayyad's economic recovery plan and help lay the
groundwork for the planned December donors conference.
