1. (U) MFA informed post in a note dated January 24 that
Jordan accepted reftel offer of assistance under the Global
Peacekeeping Operations Initiative (GPOI). The operative
paragraph of the note is provided below. Brigadier General
Awni Al-Adwan, Director of Military Training, in a letter of
January 22 expressed his appreciation for the offered
assistance and stated that the Jordan Armed Forces plan to
utilize the funding in support of its Peacekeeping Operations
Training Center.

has the honor to convey to the esteemed Embassy the
acceptance of the General Leadership of the Jordanian Armed
Forces - Presidency of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Directorate
and Military Training Directorate - to the invitation
extended by the American Government to participate in the
Global Peacekeeping Operations Initiative program.
