1. (U) Police announced August 4 the capture of Ma'adh
Breizat, one of two inmates who escaped from Jordan's Jweideh
prison on June 19 (ref A). According to Public Security
Directorate spokesman Major Basheer Daaja, Breizat was
arrested on the Zarqa-Mafraq highway several days after his
escape; however, news of his capture was withheld in hopes of
capturing the second escapee, Sa'ad Fakhri Yunis al Na'imi,
who remains at large.
2. (U) In September 2006 the SSC sentenced Ma'adh Breizat to
20 years of hard labor for plotting to attack American
instructors at the Jordan International Police Training
Center (JIPTC) in 2004 (ref B).
