(U) As requested reftel, Post has no derogatory information on the
Jordanian microfinance institutions (MFI) -- Middle East Microcredit
Company (MEMCCO),Microfund for Women (MFW),Jordan Micro Credit
Company (TAMWEELCOM),or Alwatani National Microfinance Bank (NMB) -
under consideration by Calvert Social Investment Foundation for
loans. Nor does Post have any derogatory information on the MFI's
investors and their potential ties to terrorism, money laundering,
corruption, and violations of law. Post will forward by separate
e-mail background information from USAID on these MFI's including
their mission, history, products, board members, funding sources and
loan portfolio.
