¶1. (S) Polcouns delivered reftel demarche July 2 to Thamer
Adwan, director of Foreign Minister Khatib's private office.
Adwan had no substantive reply to our demarche, but promised
to pass our concerns to the appropriate GOJ officials. Adwan
also said the Foreign Ministry is seeking information
regarding a proposed SARG-hosted border security meeting that
was discussed at the Sharm Al Sheikh Iraq Neighbors
Conference.
¶2. (S/NF) GRPO Amman closely monitors this issue. GRPO
officers raised reftel points with host government
counterparts on July 1, and will report any information as it
becomes available.
