1. Poloff delivered reftel points on May 9 to MFA Director of
Europe and the Americas Tebege Berhe and to desk officer for
the U.S. Third Secretary Adam Tesfaye.
2. Tesfaye inquired about the status of discussions with
other member states, regarding increased access to influenza
vaccines as well as ongoing smallpox research and virus stock
destruction.
3. Separately, DCM delivered points to Health Minister
Tewodros Adhanom, who confirmed that he planned to attend the
May 14-23 Assembly. Minister Tewodros said he was in
agreement with reftel points on smallpox, and would review
the points on avian and pandemic influenza.
