1. Poloff contacted Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Logisitcs
Commander G.F. Abdul to inquire about the status of the
reported sale of C-130 spare parts (reftel). Abdul said the
NAF had not received C-130 spare parts in 2007. He further
noted that while the NAF had received spare parts from United
Technologies in the past, he was unfamiliar with Romeera Aero
Spares Limited. Abdul's Deputy, who manages the day-to-day
operations of the Logisitics Branch, confirmed that the NAF
had not received spare parts shipments for C-130 aircraft.
He also was unfamiliar with Romeera Aero Spares Limited.
2. Subsequent to receiving the Department's fax, which added
Milwaukee-based Derco Aerospace, Inc. to the chain of
supposed suppliers of the spare parts, on Commander Abdul's
recommendation Poloff attempted follow-up visits with
Corporal Mshelia of the Logistics Branch, but Mshelia failed
to appear for any of three appointments.
